About Me

I went back to school later in life so that I could do what I wanted to do every since I was in Middle School. It was one of my better decisions!

When I got out of school, 12 years ago, I found myself working a lot with children. I still love to work with children, especially those struggling with anxiety, divorced parents and trauma. My training and work with children has taught me a lot about us, as adults and how attachment and childhood experiences affect who we become.

I am “client centered”, which means that I don’t have an agenda for your experience. Some clients want direction and tools while others need support and understanding. Some like to learn and some just want to process. Your counseling experience is not about me – it is about you and we will explore together what you need to make your journey what you need it to be. Clients have told me I have a “calm presence” and I will say that if you are looking for someone who will be “in your face”, I am probably not the counselor for you. On the other hand, if you are looking for support, guidance, compassion, insight, understanding and empowerment, this is the right place.

I have extensive training and or experience in Play Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy. I am able to provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and I often incorporate Expressive Arts. I believe that learning to be mindful and present are key strategies for our emotional and physical well-being and that a holistic approach is going to provide the best results. I am especially excited about Neuroscience and the concept of neuroplasticity – the ability to change our own brains.
